Literature Text

There was a beautiful woman
On the patio this afternoon.
Her knuckles were the pebbles of a beach
And her skin was as smooth and moved
Under the tides.

I asked her if she'd eaten,
Told her I'd moved away from home and
That I was in love.

"Glyn," she replied – As if that were my name – "Where are we?"

She was on the patio
Because the nurses felt it was a grace
To let her feel the wind,
But her body was a cave

And when she would take no more water
Or bread, or meat
Or even chocolate,
We sealed her up
In a tin
And loved her ashes instead.

About...well, it's not difficult. She had alzheimer's.
I think I hit all of the elements.

This is a beautiful poem . . . it tells such a powerful story in just over twenty lines. Nice work!
